Chef Andrea Claire is a woman who knows what she wants, and what she wants is to build her own culinary empire.

Bad boy chef Danny Miller's bold flavors and state-of-the-art techniques in molecular gastronomy set him apart from the pack.

Will his talent be enough to garner him the win? Or will Andre's seductive on-camera personality and obvious passion for cooking win out? Their on-air chemistry is undeniable. The test kitchens at CULINARY SEDUCTION have never been so hot.

APRIL: What were you like in school?

MERRITT: I was a nerd. I loved books and drama class when I was ten I tried to write my first play without knowing a thing about structure or character development. I just knew I should write something. Then I was convinced I should be an actress. The love of words was there, but I discovered I was better at writing them than I was at performing them.

APRIL: Were you good at English?

MERRITT: I minored in English in college. I considered making it my major but I didn't want to teach. Looking back on it it would have been smart to do just that. At least then it would have been a steady gig, if I could have landed a teaching job. My grammar has suffered I used to be so much better at it than I am now. (laughs)

APRIL: What are your ambitions for your writing career?

MERRITT: I'd love to have more books out there. Right now I just have two. I'd like to finish my musical comedy about cancer I'm writing and have it produced. Those are two pretty big dreams.

APRIL: So, what have you written?

MERRITT: Culinary Seduction is a Foodie/Chick-Lit Romance, and Flash Flower Fiction is a collection of flash fiction stories (very short 501 words or less) based on a series of flower photos my husband took. Each is written in a different genre, there’s noir, sci-fi, romance espionage. I've also written several articles for Haveheart Magazine and Home & Harvest Magazine.

APRIL: Give us an insight into your main character. What does he/she do that is so special?

MERRITT: Andrea Claire, my heroine from Culinary Seduction is a young woman who wants to build a culinary empire. But right now, she's running her own catering business is eastern Washington out of the Elks Lodge kitchen. Then she gets the call to participate in a cooking competition for hosting duties of a new show called Culinary Seduction. Her warmth and the ability to make people feel the love she puts into her food are what sets her apart. She's the girl next with ambition, talent and drive.

APRIL: What’s it about (Culinary Seduction)?

MERRITT: It's about two chefs who fall in love while battling it out in a competition for the hosting duties of a new television show called Culinary Seduction. The hero, bad boy chef Danny, went to culinary school. He specializes in molecular gastronomy. He is in debt up to his eyeballs to his ailing grandmother and the bank. Winning the competition would mean he could pay off the bank and his grandmother, then the restaurant would be his free and clear Andrea, the heroine, is a seductive home cook with great instincts. She cooks with love and has plans to build a culinary empire. Right now, she caters out of the Elks Lodge in a sleepy little eastern Washington town. There's lots of sexy banter between them. I like to think of them as the Tracy and Hepburn of the foodie set. Who will win? You'll have to read it find out. The test kitchens at the Cuisine Channel have never been so hot!

APRIL:
Which actor/actress would you like to see playing the lead character from your most recent book?

MERRITT: I'd love to see someone like Ann Hathaway or Rachel Weisz play Andrea. Although I made the character younger than they are I'd think they both could bring something really amazing to the role.

APRIL: How much research do you do?

MERRITT: I did a lot research on molecular gastronomy. My hero Danny, is a chef who cooks like a scientist. The molecular gastronomy movement is really exciting but it's very technical and precise. I don't cook that way. I had to read a lot and watch a lot of demonstrations of the process on the food channels and YouTube.
